While it attacks malware with wolfish ferocity, Bitdefender wants to keep the user as calm and serene as possible. The company's watchword for the 2012 products is "silent security." Users can put the product into autopilot mode and just ignore it, or take it out of autopilot mode to dig deeper into settings. I'm a big fan of security products that function without hassling or confusing the user.
AutoPilot mode offers silent security. Super high scores in independent lab tests. Rescue mode for tough threats. Best antiphishing protection. Includes private data protection, identity theft monitoring. Remote monitoring and configuration. Facebook protection.
So-so scores in PCMag's hands-on malware blocking and removal tests. Very large installation. Site-reputation search advice missing for many links.
This antivirus packs in tons of features that you won't find in the competition, and it scores really well with independent antivirus labs. It's the best antiphishing tool I've seen. It turned in so-so scores in PCMag's own hands-on antimalware tests, but it's still a very good choice.
